particular pattern for this time and place."
P.4 - Church life, opportunities, & family life
November (#5)
P.1-2 - Letter from Indonesia.
Each evening they brought in new friends and they received the Holy Spirit,
often looking surprised that so much could happen in one evening. People say,
'Oh, you just had a little meeting in a home,' and I say, 'Yes, praise the Lord,
that's God's way of getting the Gospel to spread as fast as possible! The big
organized meetings are too slow and inefficient.'

P.3 - Many children healed (sounds beautiful).

P.3 - The importance of looking to God, not the huge mountain that needs
climbing.
P.3 - The Subes now living at Nongkodjadjar (a small village in the hills
near(ish) Lawang).
Hard Lessons learnt after -- using human timing, not God's.
1. We can expect natural forces, sickness, demons and stuff to obey us (God
created man to have dominion over the works of His hands) but only if we fully
obey God.
2. Love is essential to the operation of the gifts of the Spirit (love means
that healing a blind girl comes before the satisfying of our own thirst);
3. Miracles are performed by command not by prayer (maybe prayer has to proceed
the work, but in the Gospels and Acts no one is ever healed by prayer. Jesus or
His followers commanded the healing or other miracles.)
P.4 - Edwin Stube discusses the church in Nongkodjadjar.
P.5 - A mission trip to Makasar ( in the Celebes). Chris Stube back to the U.S.

these meetings confirmed what Father Stube has been teaching! i.e. "that the

P.1 - Seeing ourselves as others see us
Excerpts from Jerimia's newsletter giving impressions of his travels in America
and England.
Two things shocked me.
First. Superficialities in conversion. Christian lives are based on "feeling
good" and "God has blessed me", instead of "Who God is".
Secondly. Commercialism in the work of God. Money motivates people to do
something for God. Serving God is 'sacrifice', not 'profession'.

Three approaches to Biblical interpretation:
1. The decree of irrelevance: The Scriptures were a product of their time and
place. Not now!

Lord's work. No two fields are alike.
